OMS Distributor Meeting Philippines

OMS Distributor Meeting Philippines

There are many ways to share ideas in today’s business world, Skype, e-mail, phone calls, etc.; but, nothing compares to spending time face-to-face. Various industries use different methods to connect with partners/clients. Golf, hiking trips, fishing are a few of the activities. The idea is to share a common passion and instill a level of comradely with individuals from different walks of life. OMS is no different; of course, our shared passion is diving. This year the location for the Worldwide Distributor meeting was the Philippines. Our hosts, Carol and Solomon Young, of Nautilus Dive & Sports Center Corp., our OMS Philippine distributors, and Casa Escondida Resort in Anilao, Batangas provided incredible dive support and amazing hospitality for the entire group. OMS distributors from Germany, Hong Kong/China, Malaysia, Korea, Poland, Russia, United States and Singapore totaling 25 divers met for 5 days to share ideas and learn about changing markets.

OMS is an expanding and evolving product line. Every diver experienced the newest product offerings for 2017, including the new IQ Lite backpack and the OMS regulator. Both products are designed for lightweight travel, improved hose routing, and, in the case of the regulator, the best possible performance. Of course, modularity is a key design feature for OMS, and the IQ Lite backpack will fill the needs for the traveling diver as it can be adapted to work with doubles and sidemount configurations. The OMS regulator with a Work of Breathing (WOB) of .8 Joules˟ is among the finest in the dive industry.

Casa Escondida, located in the Anilao area, is considered one of the birthplaces for diving in the Philippines. The area is home of over 300 species of coral, more than half the fish population documented in the Philippines, and an incredible selection of nudibranchs. The colors on the reefs are rich and varied and every dive has the diver turning their heads to keep up with the sites. Underwater photographers will be delighted, the subjects will keep you busy all dive long. The casual observer never gets bored. Half the fun is getting there! Outrigger boats with extremely helpful crews make diving a delight. It took us a bit to get used to the catering and care as they set our gear up before and between dives, dragged all our equipment to and from the boats and washed all our equipment upon termination of the dive. We thank everyone for their hospitality.

World over the OMS Distributors look forward to sharing the ideas and new products for the coming year.

*The joule (/ˈdʒuːl/), symbol J, is a derived unit of energy in the International System of Units. It is equal to the energy transferred (or work done) to an object when a force of one newton acts on that object in the direction of its motion through a distance of one metre
