A recent diving accident in Virginia has reminded all of us of the importance of regular equipment maintenance and the practice of all skills including the releasing of the divers weight system.
Just before Christmas, we received word of the sad passing of a police officer during a public safety dive team training exercise. One factor mentioned when the department issued their findings was a difficulty in releasing the weights from the weight integrated BC.
While not a DUI product, DUI would like to remind all owners of a DUI Weight & Trim System that they should regularly practice releasing their weight system to ensure they are comfortable doing so in an emergency situation.
The DUI Weight & Trim System Owners Manual provides detailed information including the recommendation to pull the weight release mechanism before every dive to ensure it is working properly as well as maintenance and storage instructions. A manual is provided with every System, however, if you do not have one, you can download a copy for free.
If you have any questions concerning the DUI Weight & Trim System or any DUI equipment, please contact our DUI Customer Support Team at (800) 325-8439 or Support@divedui.com.
