Dry Suits - Why You Want One for Scuba Diving

Just what is a dry suit and why would you want one for scuba diving anyway?  This is a question we get asked quite often at local dive shows across the country.  This quick article helps explain the basics of dry suits  and why you should consider them for your diving adventures. DUI - Diving Unlimited International is the world's leader in designing and manufacturing quality thermal garments for divers.  We began making wet suits back in the early 1960's.  As avid divers ourselves we spent hundreds of hours diving in the local waters off sunny San Diego.  While some people might view 60 degree water as tepid it should be noted that water conducts heat away from the body 25x's faster than air.  As a diver stays immersed in water they lose heat and energy.  Add two, three or four repetitive dives and you've got a very cold person by the end of the dive day. Dry suits are designed as a one piece garment with a waterproof zipper.  Latex or silicone seals at the wrist and neck prevent water from getting into the dry suit.  The diver than has the ability to wear an undergarment, or DiveWear, for warmth.  DiveWear can be changed depending on the water temperature, activity done while diving, how chilled the diver might be before entering the water, etc.,.  The goal is that a diver can be as warm and comfortable in the water as they want to be in their dry suit. Besides being warm and comfortable DUI makes dry suits custom made.  We can fit anyone and we guarantee the fit on every custom dry suit we manufacture.  With DUI you have a wide selection of dry suit models to choose from.  Once selected you can choose from hundreds of color combinations.  Selection dry suit pockets, abrasion pads, and lots more. Being warm and comfortable while diving is what dry suit diving is all about. 2012_ad_drysuits_you
